Am I going to get hazed tonight at my fraternity’s initiation?

I decided to join a fraternity at my university and I received an e-mail this morning telling me to “report at 9:00pm for an initiation ceremony” at the frat house. The e-mail also told me exactly how I have to dress, even down to my underwear and socks. (They want white briefs and white socks.) I called the guy in charge of pledge recruitment to ask for more information because I was worried about whether hazing takes place. He just laughed in a sarcastic sort of way and said “you better hope that the 9 other pledges in your group wear clean socks.” What is that supposed to mean and why should I care about some other guy’s socks? What are the chances that I will be hazed tonight and what could happen?
