university of florida sororities
Should I join a sorority in college?

So I’m going to be attending University of Florida. I hear they’re one of the top party schools in the nation and there are tons of great parties. I definetely like to party and socialize, but I’m wondering should I join a sorority? Will I still be able to get into great parties and stuff if not? Also are sorority girls looked down upon by everyone else kinda like in the movies? I really don’t know haha.

There’s a lot more to being in a sorority and in college than partying. There’s a lot of volunteer work, fundraising for charity, educational events, leadership development events, bonding events just with sisters and all the stuff that goes into putting those events together. Greek life is a big deal there, it’s certainly not looked down upon. If you’re interested it’s worth a shot, you can always drop out of recruitment if you don’t like it. Forget everything you’ve seen in the movies and on tv, it’s not real just like how Greys Anatomy doesn’t show you what it’s like to be a doctor.

UF has a competitive recruitment and your best chance to join a sorority is during your freshmen year. Recruitment begins in mid August so register and start preparing now. http://ufpanhellenic.com/home You’ll need recommendation letters for each sorority, if you need help finding them contact your local Alumnae Panhellenic. There’s also a far amount on UF on greekchat.com, you’ll want to read the sorority recruitment section.
